Individualism and Society

I have previously written in class about how individuals have a great degree of intuition (stemming from millennia of natural selection) and therefore should be encouraged to express their opinions. I believe that this is one of the most important things that anyone can do to advance society- the power to say what you’re thinking and, importantly, recruit others to your cause is one of the main way that new ideas are presented, noticed, and legitimized (especially in “fuzzier” fields).

This prompts the question of what a graphical distribution of everyone’s beliefs would look like. It would be incredible to create a vector that describes the global sentiment in a few key areas (healthcare, economy, environment, etc), and to then take a look at administrations and the laws enacted during them to see if there’s a disconnect. It would also be beautiful to see the graph move over time as a result of global geopolitical events.
